Eclipse designers decided that by eliminating the need for components such as starlock washers, circlips and spacer tubes they could dramatically simplify the assembly process. This would not only reduce component stocks but also save assembly time. In fact, with the assembly option of not using starlock washers the new design allows the tilt shaft to float, making for an altogether smoother rotating blind.
