Q. What style of blind would you recommend for my new conservatory?
A. The full range of Eclipse blinds is suitable for conservatories, but because they can be cut to individual shapes pleated are best for roofs. Also fabrics which have a reflective coating on the reverse, like Palette Reflex roller and vertical blinds or any of the ASC pleated ranges, are excellent for controlling the build-up of heat in conservatories.
Q. I am told I can get vertical blinds for my patio door and matching roller blinds for a window in the same room, is that the case?
A. Yes, it is. A large number of blinds in the Eclipse range are available in both roller and vertical. This applies to plain fabrics like Palette and Chancery, textured fabrics like Linenweave and Shantung and weaves like Cane and Dewdrop.
Q. Can I wash my blinds?
A. You cannot wash roller blinds – best wipe with a damp sponge. Vertical blinds can be washed, depending on the make-up of the fabric eg Polyester and you should follow the care instructions you would receive when your blind was installed. Eclipse does have a range, Aquatek Geo, which is one of the truly washable vertical blinds on the market.
Q. I work from home and use a computer. What type of blind would reduce glare on the screen?
A. The solution is to diffuse the light. Panama is a roller screen fabric and only allows 3-5% of UV light into the room making it excellent where people are using computers. Also ‘Dim-out’ ranges such as Palette Reflex would offer a solution. If you prefer venetian blinds then any of the Mirage (perforated) slat would be good.
Q. I have young children, what blinds would recommend for their bedroom?
A. Black-out blinds are certainly the answer here. There is an extensive range – Banlight roller blinds or Solstice roller blinds offer excellent control of light. The labels on the fabrics show all the information you require.
