Venetian Blinds
The slatting may be kept free of dust etc. with an occasional wipe with a cloth. If desired, the blind can be returned to your supplier for maintenance and cleaning.
Pleated Blinds
Dust and other light dirt may be removed from the blind with the careful use of a vacuum cleaner attachment.
Roller Blinds
Do not oil or grease the mechanism. A jammed spring may be released by gripping the flat pin end with pliers and carefully turning clockwise then releasing. When fitting and replacing the blind ensure the fabric is fully wound up.
Dirty marks may be removed by wiping with a slightly moist cloth, using a mild detergent/warm water mix.
Vantage Roman Blinds
Confirm that the fabric is machine washable with your supplier.
Release the fabric from the headrail Velcro and untie the cord. Remove the bottom bar (lath) from its pocket and all support rods from their tapes.
Place the fabric into washing machine and set the programme for 40°C medium wash cycle with short spin. Use a non-biological powder/liquid as specified by the machine manufacturers (do not use bleach). On completion tumble dry at a low heat setting or line dry. Fabrics other than 50% polyester & 50% cotton – dry clean only.
The fabric can also be hand washed at 40°C
Carefully iron both sides of the blind using a medium heat setting. Reassembly the blind and fit back onto its brackets.
Vertical Blinds
The headrail mechanism is self-lubricating. Occasional spraying with silicon-based fluid such as proprietary brand of furniture polish will maintain easy operation.
Fabrics are specially coated to ensure that the vanes will hang straight, repel dust and not fray. The coating may react to hot water, strong detergent and bleaching agents.
To care for the vanes, vacuum occasionally in the same way as you would with curtains or upholstery. Dirty marks may be removed by wiping with a lightly moistened cloth, using a mild detergent/warm water mixture.
If your fabric is washable, follow these directions. Unhook vanes from blind. Remove all chain and weights. Load vanes into washing machine and select the coolest wash programme for your machine. Likely to be 30°C woollen wash or 40°C synthetic wash, both with a minimum intermediate spin cycle. Use a non-biological powder/liquid as specified by the machine manufacture. Do not use any fabric softener or conditioner.
Remove the vanes immediately after the selected wash programme has finished. Do not spin dry (final spin) or tumble dry.
Using the coolest setting lightly iron the vanes while still damp. Using scissors carefully trim off any loose threads.
